Several nations now offer Netflix’s reduced and ad-supported tier, but users are discovering that their Apple TVs are unable to accept it.
What’s New?
Although the new Netflix Basic with Ads tier is now available and only costs £4.99/$6.99/€5.49 per month, using an Apple TV device won’t let you watch any content.
That’s because, despite Netflix’s assurance that it will eventually, the new tier isn’t supported yet.
The Basic with Ads tier isn’t currently functioning on Apple TV hardware for an unknown reason, and the company is reportedly telling customers that they can either use other devices to watch their content or upgrade their plan.
What’s More?
This is a less-than-satisfactory response given that the new tier is designed to help customers save money.
It’s interesting to note that the new Netflix tier functions as expected on other Apple devices, such as the new iPhone 14.
It appears that members will have to wait for an app upgrade if they want to view on a larger screen.
There are other considerations as well besides the absence of Apple TV support.
Digging Into More Details
Basic with Ads restricts users to one stream per account and 720p image quality in addition to requiring them to view advertisements before and during TV shows and movies.
Additionally, they are unable to download any materials for offline viewing.
In the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, and Mexico, the Netflix Basic with Ads tier is now accessible.
Those who already have a Netflix subscription can change to a more affordable plan right now
