Suzuki Marine USA has opened a new state-of-the-art technical center in Panama City, Florida. The 20-acre waterfront complex sits adjacent to Grand Lagoon and Robinson Bayou and includes a 9,037-square-foot main building providing office space, conference rooms, technical/service bays, inside boat storage, and other equipment. The center also includes additional buildings, a private launch ramp with docks, and a 300-foot-long protective seawall.
The Grand Opening
The grand opening event was held on May 17, 2023, and brought together staff from Suzuki’s Tampa, Florida, corporate headquarters, select dealers and boatbuilding partners, state and local dignitaries, and members of the boating press.
Among those in attendance were Mr. Shuichi Mishima, executive general manager of Marine Operations for Suzuki Motor Corporation in Japan; State of Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis; and City of Panama City Mayor Greg Brudnicki. Following tours of the facility, guests had the opportunity to take demonstration rides aboard a variety of Suzuki-powered boats and explore this unique property from the water.
The Facility
The Suzuki Marine Technical Center is a state-of-the-art facility that is designed to support Suzuki’s research and development efforts. The facility includes a variety of features that are designed to help Suzuki engineers and technicians test and refine Suzuki outboards. These features include:
⦁ A large, climate-controlled test cell that can accommodate a variety of boats and outboards.
⦁ A dyno testing station that can be used to measure the performance of outboards.
⦁ A water test tank that can be used to simulate different water conditions.
⦁ A boat repair and maintenance shop
⦁ Parts Warehouse
Activities at the Technical Center
The Suzuki Marine Technical Center will be used to support a variety of activities, including:
⦁ Endurance testing of outboards
⦁ Development of new outboard technologies
⦁ Collaboration with boatbuilders
⦁ Training of Suzuki dealers
The opening of the Suzuki Marine Technical Center is a significant milestone for Suzuki Marine USA. The facility will help Suzuki to continue to develop innovative outboards that meet the needs of boaters around the world.
