A text-based messaging network within Instagram, Meta’s Threads app had an unexpectedly early debut and swiftly racked up 30 million users in only one day.
How to Obtain Threads
Users of Instagram on iOS can quickly access Threads by typing the name of the app and the code “P92” into the search box. They can then download Threads from the App Store using
the link.
Signing Up for Threads
Users can use their existing Instagram accounts to sign up for Threads after downloading the app. They can choose to finish their public profile during the signup process and automatically follow people they already follow on Instagram.
Exploring the Threads App
Users may access their alerts, examine the most recent posts in their home feed, and find new people to follow when they open the Threads app on iOS. Threads and Replies have their own tabs on user accounts. On Threads, verified Instagram profiles continue to be verified. In order to gain followers, users can also share their Threads profile as Instagram Stories.
Privacy Concerns Surrounding Threads
Reading the app’s privacy warnings, which state that a sizable amount of personal data will be linked to users’ identities, some users expressed privacy concerns. While Twitter CEO Elon Musk made light of the rivalry, former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey voiced his concerns over Thread’s data practices. The delay of Threads’ release in the European Union may be caused in part by these worries.
Users on Threads
Threads has a staggering user base of over 30 million users, which includes a wide variety of people including celebrities, influencers, brands, and subject matter experts.
Threads in 2019-2021
It’s interesting to note that Instagram has already experimented with the Threads app. As a messaging service with a camera that focuses on sharing images, videos, and status updates only with a small group of friends, Instagram introduced Threads in 2019. For their Instagram close friends list, users could have separate inboxes and notifications in an earlier version of Threads.
